Team Purple! Advocating for Survivors of Domestic Violence.
Do you know what's really scary? Not feeling safe in your own home. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and I have committed to raising funds for YWCA Greater Lafayette's Power of the Purse – a fundraising campaign to support women, survivors and families through vital YWCA services.
The "Power of the Purse" is the ability and power to make independent financial decisions. Throughout history, women and marginalized communities have been denied full power over their own purses. I'm so thankful for my financial independence, and I want to help those who don't have that same freedom.
Through domestic violence intervention, access to cancer screenings, youth development programs and empowerment services, YWCA works every day to lift up women and girls in our community. They are on a mission to make sure every person has the opportunity to live a life with dignity, a life that is free of violence and full of potential. The welcoming and judgement-free programming is a safe space for women of all backgrounds to feel safe, supported and strengthened.
Like YWCA Greater Lafayette, I believe that with support, empowerment and financial assistance, we can remove barriers to make this mission a reality. That’s why I’m committed to raising $1,000 for YWCA Greater Lafayette's Power of the Purse. I’ve set an ambitious goal to support the YWCA and hope that you’ll join with me! The money raised will help these essential, empowering programs to continue thriving.
The YWCA helped me in a time of crisis, so I am committed to supporting their life giving programs.
