Welcome to DVIPP's Power of the Purse Page
Hello friends,
Welcome to the Domestic Violence Intervention and Prevention Team fundraising page. Team DVIPP are made up of the advocates that work directly with survivors every day in our Emergency Shelter, support groups, therapy, housing programs, and legal and Hispanic Advocacy services.
2020 has been a challenging year for us as we have had to navigate and meet the needs of survivors in the face of a global pandemic. Our services have remained open throughout, with our dedicated advocates showing up every day to assist the rising number of survivors calling for help -- up 25% from last year. But we need your help. In order to fight domestic violence and sexual assault, we need our community to stand with us, and stand with survivors.
The Power of the Purse is the ability and power to make independent financial decisions. Throughout history, women and marginalized communities have been denied full power over their own purses. It is YWCA Greater Lafayette's mission to elimate racism and empower women
Through domestic violence intervention, access to cancer screenings, youth development programs and empowerment services, YWCA works every day to lift up women and girls in our community. They are on a mission to make sure every person has the opportunity to live a life with dignity, a life that is free of violence and full of potential. The welcoming and judgement-free programming is a safe space for women of all backgrounds to feel safe, supported and strengthened.
Like YWCA Greater Lafayette, we believe that with support, empowerment and financial assistance, we can remove barriers to make this mission a reality. That's why we have committed to raising $1,000 for YWCA Greater Lafayette's Power of the Purse. I've set an ambitious goal to support YWCA and hope that you'll join with me! The money raised will help these essential, empowering programs to continue thriving.
