Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a fee to participate in the Power of the Purse?

No, every donation matters -- no matter how small. One of the biggest impacts you can have on Power of the Puse is as a community connector. YWCA Greater Lafayette needs you to advocate for the needs of women, survivors and families. You are making a difference, whether you can make a donation on your own, or share the campaign with others in your circle.

What are the donations used for?

Every Power of the Purse donation is used where YWCA programs need them most. For Team Pink, that may mean direct service dollars spent on medical procedures for patients; for Team Purple, it might mean covering the cost of essential cleaning items for shelter; for Team Persimmon, it might look like covering the cost of staff salaries that aren't coverd on grants or funding a racial justice spreaker. Power of the Purse gives YWCA the ability to direct funds where they are most needed within the organization to allow for programs and services to continue uninterrupted for clients and families who need them.

What if I've never done any type of fundraising before?

Once you register as a particpant, you will have fundraising tools already set up for you to use. Connect your donation page to your Facebook account to easily share and recieve donations via Facebook. You will also have access to email templates you can use to email your friends and family about the campaign.

If your goal is to raise at least $1,000 contact Jordan at jbonfitto@ywcalafayette.org for additional fundraising support materials available to PurseSetters.

Do I have to register as a Participant to make a donation?

No, you can make a donation straight to the campaign or to a particular participant's fundraiser without registering as a participant.
